About Our Chapter
Bread for the Journey of Santa Fe is a not-for-profit, grassroots philanthropy run entirely by volunteers and affiliated with Bread for the Journey International.
One of 20 chapters operating in the US and Canada, the Santa Fe chapter was founded in 1987 by Reverend Wayne Muller, and became the model for chapters to use everywhere.
We improve life in local communities by helping donors, volunteers and community activists invest their resources in projects that are simple, quick and helpful.
We offer small grants, practical assistance and encouragement for people in Santa Fe and northern New Mexico who have dreamed of projects they want to start in order to benefit their communities.
We welcome proposals that would often be overlooked by larger, more conventional funding agencies.
We accept proposals throughout the year and review them as soon as possible after we receive them.
We work directly with our grant applicants to discuss the possible fit between their projects and our mission, and to help transform their ideas into a full proposal that can be considered for funding.
We trust people who are insightful, energetic and ready to serve. We seek out and support those local individuals who, amid all the pressing needs in their communities, see strengths to draw upon for growth and change.
We invite donations from individuals and organizations who believe in simple, direct service and trust local individuals to know what their communities need.
We offer regular gatherings for grant recipients, donors, and volunteers to share the delightful, inspiring stories of community improvement that result from our shared practice of giving and receiving.
