Bread for the Journey Visionary Donor Circle
In donor circles, people come together to serve a cause and deepen their knowledge of the subject to which that cause is committed. Bread for the Journey is committed to the cause of liberating simple human generosity.
Our Invitation to You
One of the gifts Bread for the Journey offers is providing a sacred place of deep listening, conversation, collaboration, and learning, as we explore together the nature, power, and alchemy of human kindness and generosity. We provide a place for like-hearted people committed to helping to liberate the essential courage, wisdom, and creativity needed to invoke deep wholeness in what can be a terribly broken world.
In complex and uncertain times, as economies falter and incomes are threatened, as people travel less and see more clearly what is needed right in front of them, they ache more than ever to be useful – right here, right now. People feel discouraged that the problems of the world are too big for them to impact as single individuals and tend to focus their attention on something they can change—local schools, neighborhoods, the environment, housing, playgrounds, art, gardens—because, just as we need air and water, so we need an outlet for the essential need to feel useful and offer something of value to our world.
It is encouraging that just as this economic crisis reached its worst level, Bread for the Journey received proposals to create 7 new chapters. That is not a mere coincidence. Our work over the years has shown the power of generosity that exists in every community and the effective simplicity of Bread for the Journey in tapping into it. This year we have opened chapters in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Berkeley.
We invite you now because we believe the time is ripe for us all to stand up and claim a public investment in the wisdom, courage, strength, and liberation of wealth of ordinary people in communities everywhere, in order to build a better, more loving, just, and beautiful world.
Visionary Donors make a yearly donation of $5,000 or more for three years to Bread for the Journey and receive many gifts in return. Beyond the intangibles that come from giving itself, you will experience connection to a group of like-minded others who share your commitment to Bread for the Journey and to exploring their personal relationship to generosity and giving the opportunity to participate in one weekend retreat per year. All expenses except for travel will be taken care of by BFJ
We may know from personal experience that sometimes a single gesture, a solitary act of kindness, one uncomplicated arc of generosity, may prove to be the most healing, most potent, and beautifully true thing we will ever be privileged to share with one another.
